The Anatomy of the Prostate
Facts: The Prostate Gland:
- Is part of the genitourinary system, which is comprised of organs that
- are involved with urination and sexual function in males.
- Is about the size of a walnut.
- Is located in front of the rectum which is behind the base of the penis and
- underneath the bladder (collects and empties urine).
- Surrounds the upper part of the urethra, which carries urine and semen out of the penis.
- Makes the fluid that contains sperm called the semen.
